Okay launching a site is not that tough but getting people to like the site is. I would like the site to be user contributed. I guess that is kind of a given with the forums but I would like to offer the visitors "more" than just a cool URL to go to (pause for laughter) and talk about what's happening or has happened in Philly.

My initial thoughts are revolving around the typical things:

• Blogs: Yeah I know it has been done to death but not too many sites can offer the blazing fast server that the site is hosted on. Okay they probably can but do they? Meh.
• User Stories: Maybe have people submit stories about Philly? Might be a nice way to have a fresh POV. Also might give a budding journalist some good experience. Who wouldn't take filthadelphia.com as a serious reference?
• Web-based Email: Welcome to 1995! Okay it has been done to death. I have about 20 email addresses myself but I'll do it if you ask for it. Although I would not be able to offer 1 gig of space. Sigh. I am not cheap, just poor;)
• Local Directory: Maybe try log all the sites of Philadelphia? I know there are nifty little programs out there for that.
• Screensaver: Maybe develop a screensaver with all the pictures I have of Philadelphia? I could also accept pics from the visitors. Might be nice for those of you in those offices with no windows (heh heh).
• Pop-up banners!: Just kidding. I will never do that.
• Calendar of Events: Meh. It's been done.
• Free Dating Program: I have no idea where to start with this one but I am open to it. Don't people just use myspace.com and friendster.com?
• Just stick with the forums: Is there really no need for anything else?
